Family Reunion Shirts: Organize Sizes, Artwork and a Shared Order

A family shirt order is easier when everyone chooses from the same clear options. Set the garment, design and deadline first, then collect complete size selections.

Choose one organizer and one order record

Start by naming the person who will collect selections, approve artwork and speak with the print shop. Relatives can help, but one final record makes it easier to resolve changes and confirm the total. Keep a simple list of the selected style, colour, size and quantity for each household.

Decide whether the shirts are part of the reunion budget, a shared family purchase or an optional extra. Settle that before asking people to choose sizes. Clear expectations at the start help prevent a mix of unpaid requests and assumed gifts later.

Keep the garment choices manageable

One main shirt style and a limited colour selection can make ordering much simpler. Every extra style introduces another size chart and another line in the order. If you need an alternative fit or garment type, identify who needs it and confirm that the artwork can work across the selection.

Consider how people will use the shirts beyond the group photograph. A comfortable everyday style and a design people enjoy wearing can make the item more useful after the weekend. Start with the intended use and budget, then compare exact products rather than choosing solely from a mockup.

Collect sizes using the selected product's chart

Ask each household to check the size chart for the actual garment. “The usual medium” is not a measurement, and a size from another brand may fit differently. Comparing a well-fitting shirt's measurements with the supplied chart gives people a clearer reference.

Check adult, youth and any smaller-size requirements separately. Confirm available colours and sizes before promising that every garment version will match exactly. For more help, read our group apparel size guide.

Set a response deadline and follow up on missing selections before placing the order. Decide how you will handle someone who has not replied; avoid quietly guessing their size and treating that guess as a confirmed choice.

Build a design that works on the whole order

A family name, place, year or original graphic can provide the focus. Keep the main information easy to read and check the design on the smallest garment in the order. A large adult back print may need a different version for a youth shirt.

Agree whether everyone gets the same artwork or whether a few versions are needed. If household names or individual nicknames will be added, prepare one final list and check spelling carefully. More versions create more details to approve, so keep them purposeful.

Send the best original artwork you have. If you are starting with an idea rather than a finished design, explain the text, imagery and preferred colours. Our artwork preparation guide covers the files and details that help move the project forward.

Compare the complete quote

Make sure the order breakdown identifies each garment, colour, size and decoration position. Consider setup, personalization if included, delivery and applicable taxes when comparing finished costs. A blank shirt price alone does not describe the cost of the completed family order.

Confirm who will pay the print shop and how contributions will be collected within the family. Keep the agreed amount and payment status in the organizer's record. Send us one consolidated order rather than several informal size lists that need to be reconciled.

Work backwards from the gathering

Choose the date the shirts need to be received and sorted, not just the day of the reunion. Allow for relatives travelling early, separate deliveries or a volunteer who needs time to assemble household bundles. Confirm the schedule before making a firm promise to the group.

Approve one final proof after all requested changes have been incorporated. Check the year, location, spelling, print dimensions and garment details. Our mockup approval guide offers a final review checklist.

Plan the handout before the group photo

Check the received shirts against the confirmed tally, then bundle them by household or your chosen pickup system. Give each bundle an easy-to-read label and identify who is holding any uncollected shirts. Save the style details and approved artwork if the family may want another order later.
